We got an interesting email tonight. I think the woman had to be kidding or something when she said she wants to give up her cats.
Really... she can't be serious about ditching the cats because they don't like her new dog. The cats were there first. Shouldn't the dog be the one to go?
One of the cats has no claws! The other one has no front claws, and that's bad enough. So the cats took one look at the new doggy, who, the woman says, was "just sitting there," and freaked out. They were going for the stranger sitting in the middle of their living room and attacked the woman instead. Oops! She got bitten. Badly. Oh, well...
Our human told her the cats were terrified and she shouldn't take it personally. They were just doing what animals do when they're frightened. But the woman is now more afraid of the cats than they are of the dog. The vet who amputated the tops of their toes (declawed them) said she should find a new home for them. That doesn't sound like good advice to me.
But maybe the cats would be better off with someone who understands cats and goes to a decent vet. Hey, if you want a couple of declawed cats, I know of two who need a good home.
Our human wants me to include some links on introducing dogs and cats. If a dog moved in with me, it wouldn't be pretty. But here are the links anyway.
