Jasmine is such a perfect-in-every-way princess, it's hard to imagine her living outside behind a Papa John's restaurant. But that's where she spent an entire month. It's more than a mile away, and she had to cross two busy streets to get there. When I asked her how she did it, she said she didn't want to even think about it, let alone talk about it.
The people who work at the restaurant fed her every day, thank goodness, and gave her a box with a towel in it to sleep in. Jasmine's not the type to sleep in a dirty box beside a Dumpster, but I guess it was better than nothing. She liked the people who work in the restaurant and went inside with them when it was closed. But they had to put her out when customers started coming, and that made her very upset. Really... who cares what the Health Department thinks. Certainly not Jasmine...
Last Friday, one of the people who works at the restaurant decided Jasmine really deserved a nicer home and took her to her aunt's house. Maria started calling around to rescues, and luckily she called us! Our human was so excited when she got off the phone!
We all waited on the sidewalk for Maria to bring the cat her niece had found so we could see her (or him). As soon as she got the carrier out of the car and we heard that "You are not meeting my very high expectations" meow, we knew Jasmine was home. Maria put the carrier down on the sidewalk, and we all looked inside. Jasmine looked really mad. I don't blame her, I guess. But it wasn't our fault. I begged her to not go look for Casper. And after two months away from home, she didn't even find him.
She's so thin, she's actually sort of scary looking. And her beautiful fur is full of mats. But we're taking very good care of her, and she hasn't stopped purring since she got here. We're planning a 19th birthday celebration for her in a few days, after she's rested enough to enjoy it. I think I'll get her a mo.... No, I'd better not do that because I'd have to bring it inside and our human would freak out.
Coincidentally, the person who took Jasmine to Maria is also Jasmine. She's very nice, and we're so grateful to her for helping our Jasmine come home.
Here's another picture of Jasmine sleeping on her favorite catnip mat. I can't imagine her sleeping without that mat for two months!
