The photographer took Taz's picture at an adoption show at the Highland Groomery last Sunday. The thing about the Highland Groomery shows is that the cats aren't in crates or anything. They're free to just wander around and go wherever they want. So when the photographer got there, it looked like there were no cats at the cat adoption show.
Taz and Mia were sound asleep in the sun on a window seat in front of a bay window. Winston, that foster cat of ours, was hiding under an ottoman, and all you could see was his cute little white nose sticking out from under the ottoman (no wonder he didn't get adopted!). Lucy was in a carrier hissing at anyone -- human or feline -- who came near her. Cherokee was wedged between a desk and a wall. And Mr. Marx and Emily were hiding behind some file boxes on a shelf. Oh, and Max and Mickey were sound asleep on the resident cat's bed under a desk.
The photographer was there for an awfully long time. Finally, our human managed to get Taz to wake up and stay awake just long enough for the photographer to snap his picture.
There's a show at the Highland Groomery on the second Sunday of every month, and our human has what sounds like a good plan for next month. It involves treats -- lots of treats. She was sort of embarrassed that the photographer and potential adopters had to crawl around on the floor looking for cats last weekend, and she's hoping the treats will keep everyone front and center next time.
Diana Hanshaw took this picture of Taz. Isn't he beautiful!
