Missing Mia

I got some sad news this week. Mia, my friend from the group home, crossed over to the other side. She was very old and very frail, and I guess she just got tired and decided it was time to move on. She seemed happy in the group home, but I'm still sad that no one adopted her. She and Taz, her lifelong friend, would have loved going to their forever home together. Now Taz is all alone, and my human and I feel sad for him, too. We wish he could go home with someone who knows and loves him. Maybe he could come here. We love him!

Taz and Mia were abandoned outside when their family moved. It was weeks before a neighbor realized no one was feeding them, and by then, both were infested with fleas and Mia was very sick. She never really recovered.

Mia loved humans, and she got a lot of attention in the group home. I think she was the volunteers' favorite because she was so old and wise and so sweet. But all she ever really wanted out of life was a lap to call her very own. Maybe she has one now -- I hope so. Peaceful journey, dear friend. We miss you.

Here are some pictures Diana Hanshaw took of Mia and Taz.
