We got some bad news last fall, and I never even told you. My human and I were just too upset. Our friend Ruth told us we had to move our shelter out of her basement. Our human was devastated, and so was I. That group home saved my life, and besides, I had fun there as Head Cat.
We managed to adopt out most of the cats who were there, so they wouldn't have to go to a new shelter, if we found one. But we couldn't rescue any cats. All our human could do was give advice and tell people to post their cats on Craig's List. It was very hard for her. She was very sad.
We posted on Craig's List, too, and begged for space for a new shelter on Facebook. Just when we giving up hope, a miracle occurred. Someone saw our post on Facebook, told a friend, and the friend wrote to our human right away! She loves cats, and our human helped her with a cat problem years ago. She never forgot.
So we have a new group home now, and it's beautiful. It has lots of sunny windows and huge cat trees. It even has a bedroom with a soft, comfy bed. I wonder why no one ever sleeps on it. I would!
The best part is that tomorrow, a man and his helper are going there to build an outdoor enclosure so the cats can go out. Our human is so happy and so excited, and so am I. When she's happy, I'm happy. In fact, I'm so happy I'm going to go outside and celebrate now by catching... Oops! Forgot again. I'm not supposed to talk about that.
Here's a picture Diana Hanshaw took at the old group home.
