Mine, All Mine!

I got a present today!!

We have a lovely, soft mat to trap litter outside one of our litter boxes. Our Human sells mats just like it in her online store. I love to nap on the mat, even if it is sort of yucky sleeping right beside a litter box. Today, our Human gave me my very own mat. She put it in my bedroom (she and the other cats sleep there, too) right in front of a mirror, so I'm the first thing I see when I wake up. Very cool...

Our Human is taking care of a cat who lives with a big lizard this week. She says the lizard's less afraid of her than the poor cat, who got dumped at a Filene's Basement store. I guess her "ex" thought that would be safer than the shelter, but she wound up in the shelter anyway. Fortunately, her new forever family came along in time, and she has a wonderful home now with people who adore her.

She's still very scared though and hides inside the lining of a box spring whenever our Human is in the house. I can't imagine a cat being afraid of our Human. She loves cats, all cats! She would never harm a cat!

And I wonder if the cat and lizard are friends. The very first cats were desert animals. They ate lizards! Many cat nutrition experts think that's why we like fish (lizards are sort of oily) and need moisture from our food rather than a bowl of water. There aren't a lot of streams and ponds -- or bowls of water -- to drink from in the desert!

I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a desert. I think I like it better here. And I wouldn't want to eat a lizard.
