Wish I Was There

Our Human had lunch beside a pond in an office park between LuLu's and Simba's house today. Darn... I'd love to have lunch beside a pond. The only body of water I've ever seen is the stream that zigzags through the woods behind where we live. I wish I could see a pond, and some ducks. Well, maybe not ducks. I'm a small cat, and birds that are bigger than I am are scary.

Our Human has been pet sitting for LuLu for years. She loves him. And she says she knows he loves her, although he has a unique way of showing it.

When she's visiting him, he usually crouches at the entrance to his "mom's" bedroom and watches, wide-eyed, as she moves around his apartment. When he thinks she's not looking, he speeds into the kitchen to devour the can of Fancy Feast she's just opened. But today, he did something different. He was at the top of the stairs, and he hissed at her as she got to the top step. She says his ears were back, and his eyes were like saucers. She thought it was sort of funny, but LuLu was trying to look angry and fierce and was not amused.

She turned her head away from him -- that's catspeak for "I don't want to fight with you" -- but LuLu was having too much fun being scary to pay attention. So she left and drove around the block a few times, so he'd have time to hide. When she got back he was in the hallway watching her with those big, beautiful eyes.
