Homeward Bound

Sebastian and Cougar got adopted today! I don't know either of them, but I'm still happy for them. I wish every cat who doesn't have a home could be adopted and feel happy and safe.

Cougar had a home before. But he must have gotten lost when his people moved. Or maybe they just put him out and left. Some people moved into an apartment in Columbia and noticed a cat staggering around on their patio. It was the middle of winter, and it was freezing cold outside. They couldn't catch the cat, so they called us for help. I'm so happy that our human called them right back! Then she called her friends Ruth and Joe and asked them to bring a trap. I wouldn't like being caught in a trap, but I guess it was necessary to save Cougar's life.

By the time Ruth and Joe got to Cougar's patio, it was 10 o'clock at night. When they caught him, they took him straight to the ER, where the vet wanted to "put him to sleep." That doesn't sound like much of a cure to me! It didn't to Ruth and Joe either, and they asked the vet to do everything she could to help him.

From the ER, Cougar went to stay with our human's friend Pat until he was well. She took such good care of him! She took him to the vet for blood tests every week at first and gave him medicine and tons of food. He's very healthy now, and he's beautiful. Here's his picture. I hope he's very happy in his new home, and I really hope he doesn't get lost again. The poor boy doesn't even have claws, so it must have been awfully hard for him to hunt for food. That's just one more reason why all paws need claws.
