On Thursdays and Fridays, Our Human feeds a colony of feral cats who live in the woods next to an office park. She thought she wouldn't see the cats today because it was raining. But as she was leaving she spotted Tux sitting on the roof of their shelter. He blinked at her a couple of times (that's catspeak for "I want to be your friend," or in this case maybe "thanks for the food"), stretched and headed for their little wood feeding station. Then, one by one, the rest of the cats came out of the shelter and strolled, tails held high, in a long zig-zagging line through the grass and under the bushes to their dinner. They have quite a life -- food twice a day every day, a cozy shelter, their family members and friends, and the freedom to just be cats.
They had Trader Joe's Tuna for Cats today. Lucky things... We had some kind of expensive "health food" for dinner. It had carrots in it, and no one ate it except Tommy.
