Our human is always tired and grouchy when she gets home from adoption shows, especially if Cherokee's been there. She gets so tired of hearing people talk about how overweight Cherokee is. Poor cat... she can't help it if she's, well... full figured. It's all that dry food she eats that's packing on the pounds. If she'd get adopted and go to a home where she ate only wet food, she'd be slim and beautiful like me.
What humans don't understand is that we're descended from desert cats, and our bodies are designed to get most of the moisture we need from our food, not a bowl of water. And we're obligate carnivores -- we need animal protein and moderate amounts of fat. But dry food contains a lot of corn and grains. Our bodies don't use grains efficiently, and in some of us they turn to fat. Our human wanted me to include this link on the "Catkins Diet." And here's an article on why we need wet food. And this is our vet's favorite Web site.
Here's a picture Diana Hanshaw took of Cherokee. Isn't she pretty! I loved her when I lived in the group home. I wish The Honey Cats could go there, and she could come here.
