We got a frantic call from Casey's and Sophie's mom yesterday. A coyote had been seen in her driveway! Would our human stay outside with Casey and Sophie instead of letting them go out alone? Our human wasn't sure what she'd do if she saw a coyote, but she said of course she'd stay outside with Casey and Sophie.
So today, the three of them went outside. Sophie went right back in, not because she's scared of coyotes but because it was too hot. Casey sat in the driveway and waited for our human to go back in so he could do the things cats do when we're outdoors. When she made herself comfortable on the steps, he glared at her. Then he strolled over and rubbed against her legs: "Nice human. What a nice human you are. Go inside now. That's a good human." She didn't budge, until he went into the neighbor's yard. Then she was on her feet in a nanosecond trying to keep up with him while watching for coyotes. He was so disgusted, he glared at her and went into his house, where he sat by the door hoping to sneak out when she left.
Honestly. I'm so embarrassed. I don't know why she behaves that way. So what if there's a coyote in the neighborhood. It's just a big dog. Oh, no. Wait a minute. Don't coyotes eat cats? Eeek! I hope our human keeps a close eye on those two!
Here are their pictures. Casey's outside on the patio.
