We got the best news tonight. Bellini, a strictly indoor cat who escaped from his family's car at a McDonald's in Laurel, was reunited with his family in the woods where he'd been hiding and is on his way home to Georgia.
Poor guy had never been outside in his life until he slipped out of the car and flew into the woods. His family stayed in Maryland for two days looking for him and posting fliers. Finally, they had to go home. But before they left, they called the Howard County Cat Club and some other rescues. I'm so proud of our human. She's the only one who called them back, and then they corresponded on our Facebook page. Our human suggested calling a pet detective, and the detective searched the woods with her dog until they tracked down Bellini.
I'm proud of our friend Becky, a Howard County Cat Club volunteer, and her husband, Ryan, too. They spent two nights in the parking lot hunting for Bellini. It's so nice to know people who care.
Hey, you keep your cat in a carrier in the car, don't you? And do you tug on all the openings to make sure they're closed securely? We get confused in moving cars, and we feel trapped and defenseless and scared. We're going to run, if we have the opportunity, because all we can think about is having our feet planted firmly on the ground and being in control again. One thing cats really don't like is losing control.
Here's Bellini's picture. Pretty cat, isn't he.
